Young Human Rights Changemakers is a fully funded, remote program bringing human rights centered service learning to classrooms and communities.
Through the program, participants work together to understand the human rights issues their community is facing and create a class project to help address the issue(s).
Throughout the process, participants gain a deeper understanding of what human rights are and how human rights impact their community.
Participants also have the chance to see first hand how their actions can have an impact on their community.
Human rights are widely seen as one of the key paths to creating a better world, yet they are not taught to a significant portion of students.
Even when human rights are included, they are often presented as a document instead of as a tool that can be used to help the world.
YHRC not only educates students about human rights, it shows student how they can use human rights to help their community.
