As the world is facing a global health pandemic of Covid19, there is so much uncertainty and anxiety. The world is on lockdown and people are forced to stay home which is unlike what the world is used to.

News headlines are filled with rising cases of Covid19. We celebrate recoveries, survivors and constantly watch news updates, press releases while constantly refreshing our social media feeds to get the latest updates.

We are used to going to work, school, attending lectures, going out for lunch, attending workshop, conferences, visiting friends, hanging out, going to church, attending wedding why not? Saturdays were made for weddings, Owanbe and eating party rice and much more.

Sadly, all these have been taken away. We can’t go out like we used to. We have to stay indoors to save lives, our health care workers and system.

The next thing we think about is what to do to keep us busy during the lockdown.

We are all busy trying to achieve our goals, work from home, and gain new skills during the pandemic. Ever since the lockdown, I made a list of things I wanted to achieve during the lockdown. You can trust me, I do not want to miss out on this opportunity to gain all the skills achievable, if I must add. I must attend all the online courses and programs.

I feel guilt when I rest and slept. I would jump up from sleep and worry about how I was wasting my life. I was adding more salt to an already complicated situation. I was putting undue pressure on myself.

Please, am I the only one feeling this way?

I finally had to say to myself, IT IS OKAY TO RELAX. And rest did I do. I slept for Africa.

Guess what? When I had fully rested, I got my ginger back. Yay me.

Ever since I rested, I have been more productive.

I just wanted to share my experience because I know that I am not alone in this feeling and I just want to let you know that IT is okay to relax. Please, do not get me wrong, I am not saying you should sleep the whole lockdown away and never get things done.

I am just saying, do not be too hard on yourself. Take out time to relax.

Here are 10 fun ways to relax:

   1.  Take a break from the news

You can take a break from all the news on Covid19. Limit the number of times you watch news about Covid19. It will help reduce the anxiety and panic. Constantly following the increasing cases of Covid19 will only increase your stress and anxiety levels. Try to avoid it as much as possible.

    2.           Cook a meal

Yes, you heard me right. Do not worry if you do not know how to cook because you have YouTube. You can cook your favorite dish or learn to cook a new meal entirely and have fun while at it. You can even make a video of the process, create your own YouTube page and share.

      3. Exercise

Exercising is a great stress reliever.

      4. Create an Art work

     5. Sew

You can sew for a cause.  A lot of people still need face masks and cannot afford to get masks. You can make face masks using Ankara. This is a great time to activate your sewing skills. Do not worry if you do not have a sewing machine. A needle and thread is just fine.

     6. Spend quality family time

Spend more time your family his is a great time to bond as a family. Share funny family stories and have a great laugh. Parents have great wisdom, this is a great time to learn about your family history. If you are not with your family or your alone for the lock down you can have video calls, chat or send voice notes. You can also pray as a family. Relive fun memories.

      7. Meditate

Meditation is a great way to relax. You can meditate and clear your head of all the troubles of the world.

      8. Sleep

Sleep is very essential. You can take out time to have quality sleep.

      9. Do some gardening
